Understanding peptide reconstitution

Our peptides are supplied in lyophilized form (sterile dehydrated powder) to preserve their stability during transport and storage.

Before use in research, this powder must be reconstituted with a suitable solvent to obtain a solution at the desired concentration.

Reconstitution steps

Prepare the environment

Work in a clean, disinfected environment. Wash your hands and wear clean gloves. Ensure you have all the necessary materials within reach.

  • Lyophilized peptide vial
  • Sterile syringe
  • Solvent (bacteriostatic water recommended)
  • Alcohol wipes

Prepare the vial and the solvent

Remove the peptide and the solvent from the refrigerator and allow them to reach room temperature. Clean the rubber stoppers of both vials with an alcohol wipe.

Draw up the solvent

Using a sterile syringe, draw up the exact volume of solvent required for reconstitution. Refer to our dosage calculator or the product sheet for the recommended volume.

Add the solvent

Gently insert the needle along the wall of the vial and tilt it at a 45° angle. Slowly inject the solvent so that it flows gently down the inner wall. Avoid injecting directly onto the powder to reduce foaming.

Dissolve the peptide

Gently swirl the vial between your fingers until completely dissolved. Do not shake vigorously: this may damage the peptide structure. The resulting solution should be clear and free of visible particles.

Important tip

Always use sterile equipment and avoid any contact between the needle and the powder to preserve peptide purity. Dispose of the syringe after each use.

Storage of peptide solutions

Once reconstituted, peptide solutions have a limited shelf life. Proper storage conditions are essential to maintain their stability and integrity.

Refrigerator (+2°C to +8°C)

In general, reconstituted peptide solutions remain stable for 3 weeks or more. Store them in the coldest part of the refrigerator.

Congélateur

Freezer (-20°C or below)

A still lyophilized (not reconstituted) peptide vial can be stored in the freezer for long-term storage.

Important

Never place a vial back in the freezer once the peptide has been reconstituted . The freezer is reserved for the lyophilized vial, before reconstitution. A prepared solution must only be stored in the refrigerator — freeze/thaw cycles of a reconstituted solution compromise peptide integrity and stability.
